There are some crazy beverages and concoctions out there to be experienced.
I review some of the most interesting and insane beverages from around the world.
Foco Pennywort Drink
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN- Thailand
PRODUCER/MANUFACTURER- Thai Agri Foods Public Company Limited
REVIEW-
This is another one of those cans that sat in my fridge for a long time... then on my countertop... then back in the fridge for awhile. The surreal leaves on the can flash like cobra heads... float like death lillies... A very tight, medicinal looking leaf graphic against a sterile white background capped by a serious red FOCO. The can pops open with a loud crack, not a sexy, short blast of carbonation. I'm worried... I can smell it and it's probably 15 inches from my face! I glance over the can again looking for any strange medicinal claims... Nothing. I'm just smelling the top of the can and it's like fresh cut kale, spinach or beets. Oh Christ! It spills out into my glass lifeless and industrial waste brown. I'm thankful I have already eaten (and digested) lunch. Pennywort (HYDROCOTYLE VULGARIS): A perrenial, also known as 'White Rot'. I'm going to die... One website posts that large doses may cause headache and even induce coma. They say it is not for domestic use, but it is a natural antibiotic that has been used to treat leprosy. Well, this may be my last beverage review. Hmmm... As with the grass jelly drink this beverage's sugar content takes the fangs out of a potentially deadly snakebite. Once I get past the smell it tastes like a sweetened raw spinach/lawn weed puree. Tiggers don't like spinach/lawn weed puree! I'm glad this one is over. Now I will just sit here by the phone with 911 set to speed dial...
